Nurturing Program for the Gifted & Talented

Overview: The seminar will look at helping to raise achievement for all higher attainers, ensuring teaching staff understands the rationale behind gifted and talented provision, ensuring teaching staff know how to provide for their most able learners, and setting up an evidence base for children exhibiting giftedness and talents.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Objectives: At the end of the three-day seminar workshops, the participants will1. Gain understanding on how the dynamic and evolving definition of giftedness changed the ways in which students are identified and served;
  1. Acquire knowledge on methods that can be utilized to enhance the learning of gifted students aside from grade-skipping;
  2. Learn the provisions can be made to accurately identify students who are from racially, culturally, and economically different groups or who have disabilities and gifted at the same time;
  3. Explore the different strategies for differentiating curriculum for gifted and talented learners through acceleration and enrichment.
  4. Offer support to parents and caregivers of gifted children, including gifted children with disabilities;
  5. Help parents and caregivers in the provision of supplementary educational experiences for gifted children;
  6. Liaise with educational authorities on the needs of gifted students in the educational setting;
  7. Raise public awareness of the needs of gifted children and ways of fostering their development;
  8. Provide opportunities for gifted children to meet regularly with one another to foster their intellectual, social and emotional development;
  9. Make resources available for students studying education/psychology for the gifted.
