Overview: Recreation Therapy is a process that utilizes participation in recreation to enable people with physical, cognitive, emotional and social limitations to acquire and maintain the skills, knowledge and behaviors that will allow them to enjoy activities and function as independently as possible. Therapeutic recreation will cover Art Therapy and Aquatic Therapy – they will be provided by trained professionals.
Day 1 – ART THERAPY: Express Yourself in Full Color
Objectives: At the end of the seminar workshops, the participants will:
1. Support children Increase self-awareness and self-esteem.;
2. Develop CSN build and develop social skills;
3. Improve the behavior of children with special needs;
4. Resolve or reducing emotional pain;
5. Learn how to increase coping mechanisms;
6. Develop strategies for problem-solving.
Day 2 – AQUA THERAPY: Making Waves
Objectives: At the end of the seminar workshops, the participants will:
1. Learn how to justify aquatic therapy for children with special needs; local case studies will be highlighted during the workshop;
2. Benefit from the fluid and thermal properties of water while providing therapeutic interventions within their scope of practice; 3. Acquire the knowledge about the medical necessity of aquatic therapy — then get in the pool for a 4 hour intensive lab to learn hands-on treatments;
4. Engage in recreation and exercise in the comfort of a controlled water environment conducted by trained therapists.
